Want to do sort of a reverse crop

I have an image of a spreadsheet table and I'd like to remove the columns in the middle and just keep the first column and last column and have them right next to each other. Can someone recommend an efficient way to do that?

I know that in photoshop I could crop the image two different ways and then paste them into a new image, but that seems cumbersome.

Select first column
Control-J - copy to new layer

Select right column
copy to new layer

Move them next to each other

Delete original layer.

Alternatively:
Select the first column with your rectangular Marquee tool. Press the shift key (keeps it level) and drag it next to the last column. Crop off the extra.
