Photoshop Colours Wrong

I have a strange photoshop problem which someone can hopefully explain.

When I choose for example the color #333333 it actually gives me #272727. Photoshop still thinks it's #333333 but every other application shows it as #272727.

The problem occurs with every colour. It keeps giving me much darker versions of what the colour should be.

I deleted all my settings but the problem still exists.

Any ideas?

What mode is the image in?

Top menu
Image --> Mode

What is selected?

In the Color Picker, is "Only Web Colors" selected?

Also, how are you exporting the image that the other programs are using? gif, png, jpg or something else?

Check your Gamma settings. If you are running an LCD, the screens are brighter! What looks right to you will be too dark elsewhere. Number of websites will help you calibrate. Just google "calibrate monitor".

I also think this sounds like the "Only Web Colors" checkbox is selected (or not as the requirement may be).

Gamma shouldn't be an issue if the colour picker has been used, as the measurement will have been read 'mathematically'.

And yes, if you export as a gif, you need to ensure that you have allowed enough colours.
