Adding 3D shadow effects to images?

Does anyone know any free programs that can add a 3d shadow effect to images?

I have irfanview, but I can't find a plugin that does it for irfanview.

Nevermind, found a way to do it in Fireworks MX.

In Fireworks - select the object you want to add shadow to and from the properties palette choose 'drop shadow'.
