Do you intend to use the screen shots on printed material..?
.gif is only suitable for screenshots of pages like this one where there isn't a lot of imagery, gradients etc. It will produce a perfect reproduction on this page but will fail on pages with a lot of imagery, gradients etc because of the small color pallette. The text and edges will be just as crisp as you see it now however.
.png is more suitable for screenshots of pages with a lot of imagery.
.jpg should be reserved for imagery only such as photos.
On the other hand if this page was comprised of many images with a lot of detail the .gif file would be quite large compared to .jpg and would not even come close to reprodcing the images faithfully.
You need to use the right tool for the job. :)
