I have some short (500kb) avi files I'd like to convert to gifs (so they play without needing any plugins)

I downloaded the trial version of avi gif converter software from file-converters.com to my pc, but that didn't work.

The avi files were created on my digital still camera, imported into iphoto on my mac. and emailed to my pc. They open fine on my pc, so I don't think there's any corruption.

Does anyone have a suggestion?
