I created the file in Word. I loaded it into OOo. I "Exported as PDF".
The client's customer has Acrobat Reader 4. The client's customer claims he can't read the PDF file. The client's customer refuses to upgrade to a more recent Acrobat reader.
The client's customer gripes at the client. The client gripes at me.
I haven't visited the client's customer's home to inspect the problem. (It could, of course, be any of many problems, but...)
Is it possible that OpenOffice creates a PDF file that is incompatible with Acrobat release 4?

There's not a lot you can do other than finding an old release of Acrobat 4 or similar (which can make a PDF which is 4.x-compatible) and re-doing your PDF, but with version 4.x only, your client's customer won't be able to read very many recent PDF files.
