Hi,
I'm not able to understand the technology behind the live chat as we can see on Ikea.com as 'Anna- an Animated Avatar' who helps and answers the visitors queries online.

Is it possible for somebody to let me know the solutions that can be hired to help my company get this service enabled on the website.

Google "sitepal" and you will get some competitors

Just be careful to many gadgets can actually keep your customer busy with the gadget instead of buying

AFAIK most of those bots are based on the alicebot, at least the "brains" are. It's open source:
