I have a background of 450x200 inside this I have an image left aligned to 0,0 co-ordinates this image is 225x200.
In the remaining space on the right I want to be able to position my text vertically and centrally. Is there a way of doing this in Photoshop?

You can click and drag the type tool to create a text box (as opposed to clikcing and typing) - then you can choose to justify the text as you wish.
