gmail/Google Docs now supports many file formats

Postscript, TrueType, Photoshop, Excel etc

Google Docs Viewer extended for Gmail [gmailblog.blogspot.com ]

Today we’re excited to launch support for 12 new file types:

Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)

Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 / 2010 (.PPTX)

Apple Pages (.PAGES)

Adobe Illustrator (.AI)

Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)

Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)

Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)

PostScript (.EPS, .PS)

TrueType (.TTF)

XML Paper Specification (.XPS)

In Gmail, these types of attachments will now show a “View” link, and clicking on this link will bring up the Google Docs Viewer.

Curious... how many of those images will G cache? We do know G never forgets a url... perhaps they will never forget an image, too?

This is not to build their search database. They had the images etc. in their db even before docs viewer showed them.
It's more targeted to take a share off the competition (originators of the file types).
Or maybe, this time they mean solely to be user friendly :)

Interesting. That's good news. We're getting ready to move our corporate email system from the server in our office to gmail pro. Price is right and the technology appears to be better than Outlook/Exchange.
