Google Goes Open Source With Web Toolkit

Hoping to attract more developers to its technologies and spur new Web 2.0 applications, Google has released the source code for its Web Toolkit.
"If you're curious about how to add some AJAX goodness to your site, see if the Google Web Toolkit is right for you," product manager Dan Peterson wrote in a post on the official Google blog. The code has been released under the Apache 2.0 licence.
The Java-based Web Toolkit, currently on version 1.3, is designed to simplify the process of building AJAX-based Web apps that work efficiently in different browsers.

I love this and APIs and the like... I just wish I had tome time to sit and tinker with it all.

GWT Rocks. We've moved beyond experimentation and are building real AJAX apps with GWT. It's an exceptional AJAX framework for a Java.

Note: GWT has always been mostly open source. With this announcement they are open sourcing the last holdout proprietary component, the java to javascrpt compiler.
