Hi,

Myself and a client are seeing different PR's for the same webpage... even when we look at that the same time. I don't believe it has to do with different datacentres as I'm pretty sure datacentres all share the same PR data.. could be wrong though!

I'm confused! Any ideas why these indifferences occur?

From Matt Cutt's last toolbar PR update post [mattcutts.com]:

"New PageRanks are visible at many data centers, but not at every data center. Why not at every data center? Because some data centers are using a slightly older infrastructure for a few query types that are off the beaten path a bit (info:, link:, toolbar PageRank queries, etc.)."

The previous post from Matt C makes sense, however I observe Firefox giving my homepage a 5, and IE7 giving it a 4 - consistently. I wonder if there are other factors at play...or even something local to the PC about toolbar versions?

I don't believe there are other factors at play, I look at the past behavior with the toolbar, which has always been suspect at best. We've all discussed "green bar addiction" and the seven steps to recovery :-), but for the sake of what is occuring here, I would chalk it up to either different datacenters, or toolbar inconsistencies.
