New Gmail (Google Hosted) rocks!

Google hosted email through your domain

Hi, just wanted to share my excitement over the new Gmail feature with anybody who is experiencing the same. This new feature really rocks: I now can use my email address (firstname.lastname@mycompany.com) and run it through Gmail. Also, I can set up user accounts. This is terrific!

I believe they have had this functionality for a while. It is nice, but it's definitely not transparent. For instance, if you send an email to someone using Outlook, then it shows up as being from "mygmailaccount@gmail.com on behalf of OtherAccount [otheraccount@otherdomain.net]".

If anyone is interested in the technical stuff, the headers are:

From: OtherAccount <otheraccount@otherdomain.net>
Sender: mygmailaccount@gmail.com

So while it is a nice feature, it's probably not a great solution if you want to present a professional, corporate appearance, IMHO.

I think you are confusing something. I'm talking about 'Gmail for your Domain'. (google.com/hosted)
It requires you to change your MX-Records. Have you done this or are you just talking about Gmail?

Nope, I was confused, talking about something totally different. Definitely going to have to look into that.
