Hello,

I have a google + pages (business page) and I was wondering if it works the way google works (let me explain)

Let's say I go into google + community and add a brand, and then they add me ( does it benefit me ? or doesn't it benefit any of us because it is like a link exchange where I link to them and they link to me and then it zero's out ? )

Would it be more beneficial for me if they added me 1 st without me adding them ? ( for example I noticed some google + page have 500 people in their circle but they have over 60,000 followers, why doesn't the company add all of those followers in their circle , is it because they are not interested in what they are doing, don't know them personally or is it because they add them it is like a link exchange and they loose all the benefit from the follow ?

In terms of points and ranking what is the most import a follow, a + 1 or a share to help me rank better ? and does the share or + 1 need to be on my google + page or can it be on some of my followers page ?

Is a brand that has lot of followers going to give me more points than an brand that doesn't have many followers or doesn't it change anything ?

Is it better if the brand that follows you is related to your google + page and website or doesn't it change anything ?

Finally, if the follow, + 1 and share are coming from a brand is it better than if it is coming from a person ?

Google+ optimization isn't like SEO. It's more of a pure numbers game. Get more people to add you to their Circles, the more your message your Page sends out will be seen within the network.

It really doesn't seem matter how many accounts you Circle back. The system limits you to 5000 anyway, so if you have 60000 people Circling you you couldn't follow them all back anyway.

Hi Bill,

Thank you for clarification but should they circle me first or can I circle them first by maybe adding communities or doesn't the order matter ?

From what I understand what matters are the + 1 share and reshare that gives popularity to a google + account ( with maybe who follows you, if they are in the same industry as what your website talks about I guess that is better and also if they have many followers that is also probably better )

But following and being followed doesn't hurt like link exchange would, is that correct ?

There's no ranking on G+, so you're not competing for a SERP, so all of this SEO approach to the social media network comes across as over-thinking.

To get people to +1, share and reshare your content on G+ means that you have to be active on the network, and you need to interact with those people. The whole idea is to follow and have others follow you.

Google + pages have a PR and what I am really trying to figure out is if i ask you to follow me and you don't follow me do I give you link juice ?

You're asking about PR being exchanged between 2 G+ accounts depending on the timing they Circle/Follow one another? To the best of my knowledge Circling/Following within G+ is not analogous to giving a link, so I'm not sure I see why that would apply, or how you would attempt to manipulate it in the same way you might a link. I look at it like subscribing to an RSS feed; There's no PR exchanged, but feeds with more subscribers are notably more popular.

Meaning, you post a new and the more people +1 share and reshare your new the more popular you become and the better it is for you ?

But what about if I share a article from the new york times doesn't the popularity go to the new york times article instead of me ?

Generally. Most Communities require you to join in order to post though. As a member you get to post, and also set the amount of content you want to see from that Community in your feed.

Again, it sounds like you're talking about this as some sort of PR shaping exercise. It isn't. You're not giving away PR by linking to a article for discussion. The page you link to may accrue some benefit, but you're not taking anything away from your own profile by doing so.

Thank you bill but one thing i noticed is that some communities link to a business some don't. I have the feeling that communities with a business behind it are like pages ? is that correct ?

Most Communities are topic based, and some of those topics are tied to specific sites. Still a Page is more of a one-way communication instigated by the Page maintainer. A Community is a group that you can seed with information, but you can't really control as much as a Page. They serve somewhat different purposes in that sense.

If you ran an official Page that was verified you would likely get more impact from that in terms of SEO than a Community.
