I'm not at all surprised by this as nobody likes being forced to use a system.

It may settle down in time, but, clearly, people are aggrieved.

I guess they could just stop using it, of course.

When Google announced that it was going to replace its original commenting system with one powered by Google+, reactions seemed split between a positive reception for improving the level of discourse and giving channel owners more moderation tools, versus the concerns of commenters who felt that their free speech would be infringed. However, in the aftermath of the Google+ comments rollout, some longtime YouTubers are taking their displeasure with the new system public, posting their videos on YouTube but moving discussions elsewhere on the Web.

I have two YouTube accounts. The one is fairly popular in it's niche and makes me money. I was tricked/forced into G+ and went ahead, but disabled everything I possibly could. That said, I still comment on YouTube. This is my "business" account.

The other account I just stopped commenting because I need to agree to a new TOS and they'll create a new Page+ for me which I don't want. This is my "personal" account. I may agree one day and start commenting again, but not anytime soon.

Best way to tick people off is force unnecessary changes on them. Nobody asked for yet another social media site. I'm trying to lessen my dependence on Google.

From what my 15 year old son says there are masses of "uncomplimentary" comments on YouTube doing the rounds because of this. Twitter is full of it as well, people are leaving their comments there rather than on YouTube itself. A whole pile of the youngsters do not appreciate this move.

Six months down the line I wonder if G will have changed their minds. This time they may have done more damage to their reputation than they currently realise.
