Will the fun never end?

I don't have time to manage individual bids on product ads. That's why I quit using AdWords; it took way too much time to manage effectively. Now I'm sure the same complexity and inscrutable bidding/pricing/costs structure will be applied to Google Shopping so that they can wring as much money as possible from each customer.

I wonder how many businesses will use it, and how it will affect overall product prices.

Following the instructions from Google, I was able to set up a global "product ad only" campaign and set a default budget and bid for it. It will cover my 40,000+ products - after a while, I'll see what's working, and what needs to be tweaked, and adjust accordingly.

I see this as a "separates the men from the boys" kind of thing. My industry is riddled with part-timers that are taking customers from me. I'm sure they haven't a clue how to set up Adwords, and are too cheap to pay - so more for me!

Why am I not surprised at all by this?! Saw it coming, they did some serious split testing around the Google Shopping results box a while back. The data obviously made them realise they can make even more money by charging for this service.

But are many business using it?

Is it worth paying for ?

What percentage of searchers use it ?
