Google Chrome Ends Simplified Domain Experiment

Google Chrome is ending the experiment to simplify the domain display in the address bar.

Google's original idea last year was to hide the long uri and to just show the user the domain. That experiment is now over.

Delete simplified domain experiment

This experiment didn't move relevant security metrics, so we're not going to launch it. :(

phranque – subdomains!
On a smartphone the address bar is tiny and with enough subdomains the naked domain and tld are easily obfuscated — shifted to the right — and outside the visible address bar area.

ps: Safari had that domain feature for years
