Chrome 70: Users Will Be Able to Disable Automatic Sign-In

Google has listened to the feedback from users over the automatic sign-in in Chrome 69, and with Chrome 70, which is due in October, there will be a control that allows users to turn off linking web-based sign-in with browser-based sign-in. Once disabled, signing into a Google website will not sign users into Chrome.

I also wonder if this automatic sign-in fell foul of the E.U.'s GDPR.

Additionally, Google is making it clearer in the UI of a user's sync state.

Finally, when clearing cookies, the auth state will now delete the Google auth cookies. Previously, the Google auth cookies would remain.

Perfect, now 0.001% of users that understand how their browser works will be able to disable the feature, while 99.999% of the users will continue to be spied without ever realizing. Any complaints will swiftly be answered with "You have the option to turn that off"

I agree, it's the problem that is tracking by default, and "the web"grew up with it, and now it's got it, it doesnt want to give it up easily.

Someone ( usual choir ) tell us again why they think using Chrome is a good idea ?

I have 10 machines plus tablets and phones, Chrome is on none of them, nor will it ever be..

Just adding that, by default, Chrome set the DoNotTrack (DNT) header, but Google doesn't even respect it itself...

Nobody will ever turn it on, might be the reason.

It will be fun, next year, when the EU will force web browsers to explicitly ask their users if they accept to be "tracked" or not...

You guys do know that g will say one thing in public and do what they want in private ... and you won't know it because this foo fa rah will have alerted them to better cover their tracks. Meanwhile, look to the recent reports regarding the android privacy problems which have yet to be addressed regarding leaking PII here there and everywhere.
