Tab restoring is the "killer" feature of opera, IMHO and a big reason why opera is my primary browser.

Browsers blocking content is heinous. First flash, the precedence is set so they can block other stuff in
n the future. The sheep just sit and bleat that its a good thing until it isn't but by then it will be too late. Users can get addons to block things, this should NOT be default behavior.

Items widely accepted as Annoyances (items taking over your browser without your request and/or consent) : pop-ups, pop-unders, auto-play, and the such : must be banned by default, with option to activate. Annoyances should not get the "free speech" treatment. The right to annoy and pester? Thanks, but no, thanks.

It's not the business of browsers to decide what I want to see. A browser is a tool, period. If I don't want to see a specific type of content and there's an add-on/extension to control that, I will make the decision. Security vulnerabilities are one thing, and I set that level, but to push political biases (Google vs Adobe) onto the user is just wrong.

I don't use flash myself, but I acknowledge the ethical imperative for a webmaster's right to publish whatever they wish, including flash & various types of ads. I think it needs not be said that Google's Chrome will never block Google's Adsense ads.

I don't think most people find ads annoying per se. What they do find annoying (or, at least, what I find annoying) are pop-up and pop-under ads, interstitials, ads within body text, and page layouts with so many ads that the content looks like an afterthought. (Case in point: My local metropolitan newspaper's Web site, which often has seven ads on a page.)

Of course, ad blockers can't distinguish between a reasonable use of ads and ad overload, so a "zero tolerance" policy is going to apply whenever someone uses an ad blocker.

My opinion: The problem isn't ad blockers, it's greedy and/or desperate publishers who are ruining things for all publishers who depend on advertising for revenue.

This step of making Flash pause is a security issue. Flash is the vector for so many browser exploits these days that it's become necessary to deprecate it. It has become so easy for someone to slip a malicious Flash ad into one of these 3rd or 4th party advertising systems that it's not uncommon to hear about people getting pwned by visiting their local news site. Google is taking steps to eliminate this vector.

This isn't an Ad Blocking issue.

As I said, I have no problem with Security issues being addressed by browsers.

Doesn't really matter since Chrome seems to have stopped working in Win 10. Takes forever to launch 5-10 minutes and I can find no fix for the problem. Useless trash at this point so the whole thing is moot. Maybe Norton is blocking something, who knows, I don't even care anymore as I'm sick of random bugs with this thing that cause such colossal failure all the time.

I found lots of other people complaining about the same thing with no solution or any help.

I'm having no issues using Chrome on Win10. Fast as ever but not as fast as Edge IMO.

Best way to speed up everything is to wipe Norton off your machine. I got rid of it a few years ago and never looked back, besides the new Win10 anti malware/virus is terrific.

Norton is a dog and may be part of the problem. Years ago Norton slowed an old second machine to the point it was unusable. I installed Avast and it was like a new machine. Then a couple of years later they bloated Avast too so i just tossed the machine.

The trick so far its to just not close chrome once it launches unlike the latest unstable Firefox that reboots itself when it crashes once a day minimum.

The only browser that works right is Edge, shocking

Test if you have installed 64x version of Chrome or 32x. A lot of people have a problem because of that.

Chrome is better and better, firefox is slower and slower...

Pale Moon with never remember history activated, Flash has to ask to activate, Panda Free Antivirus, and NoSripts - surfing has never been so quick, pleasant, and safe for moi.

OK, I had 2 machines in win 10 and the latest chrome "update" rendered both useless.

The 'FIX' turned out to be disabling hardware acceleration and now it loads and launches just fine.

Yeah, it's getting better and faster, for who(m)?

Edge blows the doors off both on my 64 but Win 10 machine but that's just from casual observation, not testing, but considering I'm the user the fact that I perceive it as the fastest and least buggy is the most important at the moment.

Firefox 40 on Win 10 is very unstable, possibly worst of the 3, I'm not pleased with it at all.

I'm sure they'll all get their act together on Win 10 but overall, this has NOT been a good upgrade when Chrome tanked on every machine I own after upgrading. All 65 bit machines. Did anyone test this stuff?\

NOTE: disabling hardware acceleration requires a reboot before that change fixes the Chrome freeze problem.

Another fun fact: Chrome started locking up loading on Win 8 before I upgraded to Win 10. I had hoped Win 19 would solve the problem and it actually got worse. Basically it always loaded the FIRST time after a reboot. Once you closed it and tried to reload it never opened again until you rebooted. Started about a month or so ago as I use Chrome a lot so I was bummed when it first broke. I tried everything I could find online, nothing fixed it..

Hat tip to my wife as she found the solution. She upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 and it broke immediately so her circumstances were different than mine which led to a quick solution for a change. Yay! Got to give the wife her props here as I'd given up on Chrome when she fixed it.
