I like Chrome. I would probably use it as my main browser except that whenever it asks me to save a file, the dialog box is hidden. I have to click outside of where the dialog box should be in order to see it.

Even when I do that, sometimes it still doesn't render. It's only as I move the cursor back and forth over the box that it draws in the various buttons. Most often it still doesn't show the file and directory list until I change directories. It has been doing this forever, does it on both my computers (XP and Vista) and is the only app that does anything remotely close to that.

I have hardly any plug-ins (just Lastpass, but it did it before I had that running).

any ideas?

I seem to recall having a similar issue on an old underpowered XP machine. Switching to SRware Iron might be worth checking out to see if there's a difference in the rendering.

Since I know you're a Lastpass user, do you know offhand whether Iron works with Lastpass? That's pretty much my only non-negotiable...

Yes, LastPass works just as well on SRware Iron as it does on Google's Chrome. In fact I've never had an add-on that worked in Chrome that didn't work in SRware Iron...or vice versa. They just turn off some of the reporting to the Google mothership, and they don't update automatically. You have to download updates manually.

Oh, Windows Live Mesh 2011 is much better now that it is out of beta. I highly recommend it. ;)

Finally got around to trying Iron - same behavior as Chrome. So it's something fundamental to the code I guess. :-(

Worth a try though. I have to say - after using Chrome for a while, I find it aggravating to have one text box for URLs and one for search. I'm always putting the wrong one in the wrong box now.
