Google has announced AMP stories for mobile SERPs. Developers can go ahead with this right now, and publishers and content creators can have a new toy to play with.
"AMP stories immerse readers in tappable, full-screen content. Building on the possibilities of the AMP project, this format enables the creation of visual content that is fast, open, and user-first." Google's New AMP Stories For Mobile SERPs
Looks interesting. But I hate it when then roll out new features when I haven't fully finished playing with the current ones.

It looks good, but the publishers should not switch to AMP as the revenue is really pathetic. I'm using AMP only for sake of Top Stories.

@Mayank, I don't share your experience. If anything my AMP earnings are better than my non-amp earnings.

What sucks about most of this AMP and Instant Article type stuff is that it seems only done to push people into walled gardens. I'll accept AMP if it keeps the content coming from search, but if its a backdoor with articles on a mobile APP and not mobile WEB then screw them. I don't want Facebook App being my only front door just as I don't want some Google app being my only front door. Setups like this make me feel like they're deviating from the "make it fast for small devices" to "make it look like FB instant articles so we can monetize it our apps".. hope i'm wrong.

Can someone confirm that with the href tag the rel alternative should be the AMP URL and not the canonical?
