Nevermind the tool, what does it look like in all the major browsers?

I'm not saying there is anything inherently broken with the amp preview tool, but tools in general are not browsers. They often display a different interpretation than a human viewing the page with one of the major browsers. That's what is important, your visitors.

My concern is to make sure that all is working fine. That google sees the image. Do you guys have AMP pages? If yes, and check with the tool, does Google see your images in the preview?

Remember, there's a difference between the tool displaying the image and Googlebot finding & indexing that image.

I'll check on a client's AMP page tomorrow.

Yes Keyyplyr, that's the tool I am talking referring. If it's working, Can you please tell me why it's not seeing the image in this sample? Image size is right and no errors reported, but I don't know why it's not showing the image in the preview.

If you are testing rich card markup, you can see your actual image in the preview if we confirm, or verify, that the image URL is in our index. However, the preview displays a placeholder image if our systems cannot verify the image URL. Even so, when your rich card markup reaches our systems, the image you provide should be shown correctly in the actual Google Search results.

If you click the link under the missing image, the page displays as it should including images.

This is what I can't understand. Yesterday morning all of our stories were showing images there. Then in the afternoon the same stories stopped showing images there. How do I explain this?

But also this is not a rich card markup is it? It's just a simple news article, not a rich card markup which is usually for recipes or products.

You are correct, but since it stopped showing the image in the preview tool we started loosing some traffic from Top Stories on mobile.

You should probably check to make sure you are not blocking any Google ranges, even the Cloud ranges that are often used to retrieve image files.

Also check your robots.txt to make sure you are not disallowing access to any image directories, or other directories that may play a part in accessing images.

What do you mean by Google Ranges" or Cloud Ranges? Do you mean something like cloudflare?

If you don't know what an IP range is, then you probably aren't blocking them.
