From July 2018 Google is to ban ads for bail bonds services, saying it falls under it's commitment to stop deceptive or harmful products from its services.
According to Gina Clayton, executive director of the Essie Justice Group, "This is the largest step any corporation has taken on behalf of the millions of women who have loved ones in jails across this country. Google's new policy is a call to action for all those in the private sector who profit off of mass incarceration. It is time to say ‘no more.’"

Good. But there are plenty of other "deceptive or harmful products" served by Google's services too.

Yes, I can see how helping arrested people get out of jail is very harmful...

Sarcasm aside, getting rid of deceptive or harmful ads- definitely a good strategy. Banning an entire business sector of legitimate businesses- not so good.

I wonder if it's because that sector might have more predatory businesses than others.

Er, yes, because the advertising is aimed at people with an immediate and urgent need. You don't get a lot of pre-need shopping.
