how much avg ad position accuracy

Hello,

I am now seeing my ad for a keyword on 3rd page in the Google and the avg post is 3.2. What does that mean? Does it mean 3rd page 2nd position as 3.2 or Avg position of ad on 3rd page.

How to determine the exact ad position? how many ads are eligible on a single page?

Also I want to know how to determine competition in an auction? how to get competition idea in Adwords.

Note: I need competition idea for Adwords, not by using keyword planner which gives high, low, medium competitions.

Like in SEO we check competition by seeing the number of results in SERP. How to check competition idea in Adwords?

Hi,

Average position counts down from the top of the page; so 3.2 means on average your in position 3 on the first page. Now, position is only calculated when the ad is displayed; so if your ad is showing on page 3; roughly position 30 or so; very few people go that far, so that number is rarely being factored into your average position.

Google doesn't have a set number of ads on any one page; the max is generally 12; but there are times they may show less than that for various factors.

The easiest way to see your true competitors is to click next to a keyword, go to details, and choose auction insights. That will show you your actual competitors.
