Is there a way to omit display URLs from showing?

Sometimes when browsing sites using Adsense, I see content network ads without a display URL. How is this done?

And is there any way of doing it for search ads too?

I think the display URL is shown or hidden based on the ad format chosen by the Adsense publisher. The various formats are shown at [google.com...]
