[...] Before you upgrade, be sure to export an archive of your account in order to preserve comments and unposted changes. After you've installed version 6.0, download your account, then import the archive file. [...]

The blog post itself included three links to how-to info, in the above text - and also gives some details about a (free) webinar for those who'd like to learn more about using the new features.

My god, this downloading stats in the foreground is a killer, I've been waiting an hour now to get yesterdays stats downloaded with no way to work in the background like before.

I have an Error#42 occurs onces I successfully download and run the upgrades version of tool but as I created some new ad groups and trying to post my changes that Error occurred I a tried to guide my self with an AdWords specialist online chat but he recon that there engineers are still working on that issue and most of the advertisers are complaining the same Error code.

Yup, I'm getting that code now as well...

Hrm. I archived each account separately, installed the new editor, downloaded the first account, and then tried to import the archived account and got the error message:

"Adwords Editor could not understand the contents of the file. This may indicate a problem with AdWords Editor, or with a third party tool that generated the file. Please contact technical support."

So, it looks like once again, I've lost all my comments, or at least, I can't port them into AE 6.0

sigh.

With regard to the error above, Google are aware of the problem and apparantly have all their engineers looking into it. Affecting a few account.

Thanks to your all for the alert. As has already been mentioned, engineering is aware of this, and working to resolve it as a priority.

I've looked into this a bit, netmeg, and have early (though not fully confirmed) news of a workaround. Quoting my colleague:

As a workaround, go to Tools ¦ Settings, turn on "Download deleted and ended campaigns and ad groups" option, then perform Account ¦ Get Full Account. You should now be able to import the archive.

Launched the editor on a MAC and it asked me to download and advised me of the specifics. I clicked yes and it opened the editor and then crashed it when I tried to download from the account.

Actually the editor works much better on my MAC than the _pc

I guess the law of unintended consequences.

Thanks, but that was actually something of a nightmare - it downloaded all the old deleted stuff, marked it as new changes, and with some accounts having almost a hundred campaigns - there was just no way to go through every single change including deleted stuff to figure out what was old and what was new.

I ended up having to restore full accounts to all my client accounts, and once again, lost the commenting.

The commenting is an extremely necessary and useful function, rendered virtually useless if we lose them every time there's an upgrade. I think that this needs major attention paid before the next upgrade goes live.

I'm just going to have to start keeping a separate spreadsheet now for comments, I guess, which is unfortunate. I look to new AdWords features to make my job *easier* - not harder. Not your fault, of course, AWA, but please pass that on.

So... is it safe to upgrade now or I better stick with version 5.x?

Hi all, a question that I can't find the answer for. We have some large accounts - downloading the stats to adwords editor used to take around 60 - 90 seconds. After downloading version 6, it is taking 30 - 40 minutes to download any stats view, and if you want to see a different period it takes another 30 - 40 minutes! This makes it completely useless - does anyone know a way around this, or more importanlty does anyone know how I can roll back to version 5? Any help will be greatly appreciated

i'm seeing the same issue asindepth184 - takes 30 mins to donwload stats for each time period - i agree basically rendering it a useless tool ? can we roll back is there a fix ?
