"Free $25 Google adwords credit" - how does it work?

I've seen most of the big webhosts these days offer free advertising credit - often $25 Google Adwords, and $50 Microsoft Adcenter, or something similar.

What I want to know is, how do they get those deals? Do Google have a program, or do they buddy up with them? And, do they get a kick back if the customer spends more than $X? I'm particularly interested in the Google program.

I'm aware of the Google Adwords referral program where I get $5 - $40 for a customer signing up. In that deal, the customer gets nothing out of it. Is there a deal available where both the customer and I get something?

I can only tell you from the client's point of view but I think you are interested in offering* similar codes.

If you get a code like that it only works with new accounts and you can only run your ads after you added some billing information.

I have some codes and I find them useless unless they let you apply them to your existent account.

Hmmm, that's a start. They sure don't make that clear usually :)

But yeah, I'm interested in putting together an offer for a large group of small clients (not hosting clients, but the same principles apply).

Could someone bring in more info regarding this topic ,i am really interested in this and i agree with markbaa that the customer should be getting some benefit ,so the deal looks sweet to him.
