How does one block 'Domain ads'?

When I heard about the new placement performance reports I thought it would be great as I would be able to easily tell what sites my ads are showing on in the content network and block those I don't want. Well I just ran one of these reports and all of the ones with extremely high impressions and click throughs (all of which BTW get virtually no impressions on google.com) are from sites that are listed as "Domain ads", "Error page ads" and "Other" under the Domain and URL column rather than the actual domain or URL. Does anyone know how I can block any of these types of sites on either specific adgroups, campaigns or account wide?

I don't think you can at this point, but seems like I did hear or read somewhere something to the effect that that was coming.

I did research on this awhile ago and discovered that you can block a good portion of the domain ads by putting 'domainsponsor.com' in your site block list. Apparently, they are one of the largest providers of these ads.

I can't remember the blog where I found this out, but if I do I'll come back and link to it.

There was a thread on SEW where an AdWords rep wrote that excluding domainsponsor.com at the campaign level will exclude the network of parked domains that include domainsponsor.com and searchportal.information.com.

Thanks everyone, hopefully Google will improve their tool to identify who these parked domain sites are. Until then I guess I'll try blocking domainsponsor.com and see if things improve.

You can possibly block the sites/domain names at Campaign level using "Exclude Site" option. You can find this inside the Content Network Campaign next to Campaign Negatives "No excluded sites: Add".

hmmm, I added:

domains.googlesyndication.com
domainsponsor.com
sedoparking.com

to the some of the campaigns site exclusion list last Saturday and they all continue to get many impressions and clicks today. Anyone know how long site exclusions take to go into effect?

I don't think it works. I've had those on my exclusion list for months and continue to get clicks. I think you have to specify each domain in their network, and that's like counting grains of sand on the beach. Not practical.

BTW, Yahoo Search Marketing promises the ability to exclude domains is coming in September. They will be stepping over Google in helping out advertisers.

I think your right about it being broken as impressions and hits continue for me as well. Surprised there have not been any posts about this. Has anyone been able to block any of these parking domain services from the content network? To clarify, I am talking about those parking pages on the content network that are not at the actual parked domain but at the parking sites that serve the pages for these domains like:

www.sedoparking.com/somedomainname.com
domains.googlesyndication.com/apps/domainpark/domainpark.cgi?cid=somecompany&s=somedomainname.com

We are working on making it simpler for advertisers who don't want to show on domain sites or error pages to exclude them. In the meantime, if site exclusion does not seem to be working for you, you can write into support for help.

Search for your ad text on Google.

I found quite a few parked domains this way and have since blocked them.

You could also look at the referrer data to see which domain pages are sending you clicks.
