Does your Landing Page Quality affect your Ad Position?

My ad used to be placed on the front page, then I made some tweaks to it. Now, it's placed on the second page.

So my question is, does the quality of your landing page affect your ad position?

Thank you so much for any tips you might have.

The quality/relavance of your landing page is one component of your Quality Score, which has a huge effect on your ad's ranking. Here's Google's explanation:

"Currently, the formula is best represented as:

Quality Score = (keyword's CTR, ad text relevance, keyword relevance, landing page relevance)*

*Where the interactions between the Quality Score variables change as we continue to refine how to measure and define quality in AdWords.
A keyword's Quality Score directly affects your keyword's status and your related ad's pricing and position on a given page."

Awesome! Thank you so much. I was confused by the following message from Google's blog:

Not for Google search. While one's landing page quality is directly correlated with the minimum bid required for one's ads to run, it does not affect your ads position (or 'rank', as it is often referred to) at all. However, since there is no minimum bid requirement for contextually-targeted ads, low quality landing pages will result in the need to bid higher to compete in the auction, which could also impact your position on pages in the network.

Maybe that's obsolete, or I'm reading something incorrectly?

sjusc, this page [adwords.google.com] from Google should help you out. It says:

Keyword-targeted ads are ranked on search result pages based on their maximum cost-per-click (CPC) and the keyword's Quality Score on Google.com. (For the top positions above Google search results, we use the actual CPC.)

Ad Rank = CPC X Quality Score*

*Note: The Quality Score used to determine your ad's rank is slightly different from the keyword Quality Score used to determine your ad's minimum CPC bid requirement. Your keyword's overall Quality Score considers the keyword's clickthrough rate (CTR) and the relevance of the keyword, your ad's text, and landing page. The Quality Score used for ad ranking considers your keyword's CTR, ad text relevance, and your keyword's relevance in relation to a user's search query.

(emphasis added)

In other words, the landing page doesn't affect the ad ranking.
