Today will be the lowest day of revenue in 13 years. :-(

June happened to be great for me - mainly due to global uncertainty and general volatility - but it certainly makes up for the abysmal winter/spring. Limited clawback to boot.

These days, Adsense is like running an ice cream shop or lemonade stand where you make your money in the hot summer months and hope the earnings can carry you into the next year. Rinse and repeat.

But I don't feel it is a sustainable, long term force anymore. Goog's own A.I. push isn't helping things with SEO either.

I can't believe what's happening. Within a month my RPM dropped to 0.24, and today it has climbed to $10.51! What the heck is going on?

Perhaps we're finally seeing a decent summer spend by advertisers.

External world events are "smoothing" out (tariffs, wars, politics here and there) which can IMPROVE business confidence. Here's hoping that trickles down to the web!

What does everyone think of the new feature on Adsense:

Fill empty in-page ads
Optimize ad slots when display ads are not available.

It is rolling out now for all publishers, it is already active in my account.

By default it will be on, if you want to opt out/disable this:
1) Sign in to your AdSense account.
2) Click Brand safety.
3) Click Content, then Blocking controls.
4) Click Manage Ad serving.
5) In the "Display ads" section, turn off Fill empty in-page ads.

Have a good day.

@Allhearts

I will leave the default on for the first month or two then check to see if it's giving me some revenue, if not, i'll replace the empty ads with my own custom ads that point to internal links.

I think the 'Fill Empty In-Page Ads' should be a good thing for most publishers.

I don't run a backup system so I'm keeping the defaults for that feature in place for the time being.

From the pictures I've seen they remind me of those old link units - a load of keywords that take you to a page of ads

The quality of ads I'm seeing at the moment is atrocious, it's all spammy IQ tests and google's own ads for Gemini (3 identical google ads on the same page). When google start showing their own ads you know it's turned bad

I see tons of spammy ads across my network of sites too but I dont think that is entirely representative of the ads our visitors see.

I understand revenue can fluctuate, but this is the first time my RPM has stayed this low for weeks.
If this trend continues, I’ll likely only make a third of my usual earnings despite similar or even higher traffic.

I asked ChatGPT about the drop in RPM he told me it's because of the Summer season, advertisers put less budgets towards advertising because most people spend their time outdoors not in front of computers...

That's partly true I suppose...my outdoors-centric sites are seeing crazy high RPMs for the moment - propelling me earnings-wise beyond last year's pace by a considerable margin.

All other topics, however, are status quo or low right now.

At least ChatGPT didn't suggest it 'could be cancer' : )

For whatever reasons, I'm having my best month in about three years. Nothing spectacular, but about 80% up from July 2024. Since I loudly complained to Google about their impression counts being multiple degrees of magnitude lower than mine, all metrics have gradually improved - about 2 1/2 months now.

Of course, it could be all a facade, or, due to my work, fixing things that were broken, adding fresh content. I just keep plugging away. Soon, I'll be ready to sell ads myself, which will probably make Google just a base.

Good luck to all. BTW: the U.S., and largely all of western economies are pretty much fake. They're a far cry from what they were 20, 30 years ago.
