I'm seeing a positive trend as well.
I think Adsense was implementing AI in the treatment of Ads with the aim to optimise the revenues for both sides

@dolcevita,

Great news, things have improved for me as well over the last few days.

Hopefully it keeps up. :-)

I was seeing a gradual improvement throughout last week, Friday was my best day, but today, everything just fell flat. RPM today is at it's lowest point so far this year, for me. :-(

OK, I thought it was my insightful articles on the NCAA Tournament, but apparently, it's not, because those pages are not getting tons of traffic.

The past four days, March 21-24, were four out of five highest revenue days of the month for me and yesterday was #1 in revenue, impressions and pageviews. All metrics are up. This is after the latest "update" by G, when my revenue hit rock bottom for two days - March 12 & 13. Since that bottom, things have been trending positively.

I've ben reading a little about AI Observations (?) and how that is bleeding out websites. I haven't used Google for search in about 10 years, so I'm not familiar with their SERPS and don't really care, but, from personal experience, AI is kind of fun and different as a novelty, but its usefulness is limited and like all novelties, it wears off. I think people will continue to search and visit websites. It's somewhat ingrained behavior.

In any case, I like what I'm seeing and hope it continues to improve. The past two years have been brutal.

One thing that has really helped me throughout the ups and downs over the past year with Adsense, is "Vignette ads".

With:
"Vignette ad frequency" (Set to 1 minute)
"Allow vignette ads on screens wider than 1000px, like desktop." (Checked)

By no means am I earning the same amount now that I was even two years ago, but this feature has really helped pick up the slack.

I hope this helps someone, even if just to consider trying it. :-)

Have a great day.

I can second that. Even without showing them on desktop the earnings are still decent. I don't like how they look though, so I was thinking of doing an experiment to see how sticky footers compare (I think sticky ads at the top are even more annoying than vignettes)

@londrum,

I also use anchor ads (sticky ads), I tested them for a while at first, as they are (bottom on desktop, top on mobile), but I too found them really annoying at the top on mobile, because I already have an ad above the fold, so I moved them to the bottom for all devices.

The anchor ads (sticky), doesn’t compare with vignette ads, from the 3 different types I use, In Page, Vignette, and Anchor, Vignette ads get the least impressions, but it has the highest impression RPM of all three, and for me anyway, 3x higher impression RPM than the other two combined.

If anyone is interested in showing "Anchor ads" (sticky ads) at the bottom of the screen only on all devices, on this:

<script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-0000000000000"
crossorigin="anonymous"></script>

Add this: data-overlays="bottom"

It should look like this:

<script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-0000000000000"
data-overlays="bottom" crossorigin="anonymous"></script>

I actually learned this from a Google adsense help page -> [support.google.com ], and it is totally legit. :-)

Good luck.

that's a shame about the lower RPM. you'd think they'd have better earnings if they appear on every page.
the problem i have with vignettes is that's it's not always obvious how to close them. sometimes that little (X) at the top blends into the image behind, and it must really wind some people up (I know it winds me up!)

@londrum,

I agree 100%, on some of the vignette ads that do not have the "Close" button or option, but just have an "X" on the top/right corner of the ad that blends in with the actual ad, is not only hard for users to see, but also very deceitful on Adsense's part, to get more clicks to their advertisers, at our (publishers) cost, since we don't get paid for clicks anymore.

This never happened before when we publishers got paid by the click, and as I remember, there used to be very strict rules for publishers, not to encourage and in anyway trick users into clicking the ads, but since they actually pay us now by CPM and no longer by CPC, it is ok for them to trick users to click more.
