Quality (payout) better with traffic?

I won't swear to this but it seems that when I manage increased traffic the quality and payout of AdSense goes up..

Is it the bids or is Google just adapting to the traffic.

Various reasons and factors contribute to why that happens. For example, my biggest site gets thousands of hits per hour, it's a popular local website.

I have another smaller site that receives maybe 10% of the traffic but generates 5-6x more revenue. This is because the smaller site attracts a different type of user, primarily professionals from higher GDP countries like the US and UK.

Ultimately, it depends on multiple factors. Advertisers generally pay more for traffic from countries with higher disposable income, such as the US, Germany, the UK, France, Sweden, Brazil, and South Africa.
