Is webmaster error or CPC to CPM to blame for over 50% drop revenue

Feel like I am frantically paddling, but still going backwards

Revenue has been falling steadily since a bumper year in 2022 when I turned on vignettes. Since March 2024 I have seen an over 50% fall in revenue from adsense. I am using:
- offerwall
- ad blocker message
- google gdpr consent forms
- auto ads all options are on.

My traffic is down slightly, but not enough to cause the fall in revenue. Have I done something stupid or is this the change from CPC to CPM?

Hi decker2186 and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

The same thing has happened to a lot of other sites counting on AdSense. The AdSense discussions here for the month of March offer a look at the effects across several dozens of sites: [webmasterworld.com...]

The April discussion offers some of the answers though not evenly improving across various niches: [webmasterworld.com...]

Those two threads should be useful for how you might improve things.

What sort of effect did turning all the auto add features on page views per session? Sometimes auto ads can be really obtrusive, and cause users to simply leave.
