Hi,

Sorry for this naive question. I am reading the Google's official recommendations to place a mobile ad unit above the fold: [support.google.com...]

Is it really the best option (highest performance) to place a 320x100 above-the-fold ad? Or is it better to place a responsive one?

Thank you.

It is fairly common to see a header ad both on mobile and desktop. I visited that link and am sort of surprised they are talking about "your mobile site" because I thought most sites decided not to fiddle with two separate sites. I may be wrong, it isn't something I've researched recently.

There is a link for more in depth answers there, but if the ad will be limited to 320x100 you probably do not want it for a header ad on a responsive site. It seems to depend on how your "mobile site" is being handled.
