There are 30K+ ad networks, which are competing to advertise on Adsense publishers' sites.

The more the merrier.

300+ are labelled "do not use", "don't use", "cancelled", "retired", "expired"... why are those in the list of ad networks?

Is Adsense really invoking all these 30K+ networks, before deciding which ad to show on a page ?

If so, this is not surprising that Adsense is so slow to deliver ads.

I assumed that, ad networks, needed to fulfill certain strict quality criteria and requirements before being approved to enter the Adsense inventory, and that only best ones could be selected... So how can we have ad networks such as :

- 700+ "mts-test-" followed by a CLSID-like id.
- "Client Name Example"
- "Test client Nov27"
- "test empty partner_client_id" and " test non-empty partner_client_id"
- "Testing this package client"
- "Test client"
- "Client Account Test"
- "00Test1010_ that was too much"
- "garys super cool new client for the bug bash"
- ...

I would wonder whether that list is the same tomorrow or shows a different 30K test accounts?

I always assumed it was Adsense not allowing networks to delete their own test channels - so you see things like that until Adsense people get around to purging unused ones. But I don't know.

I see that today, it has been renamed "Brand Safety".

Just wait until you see how busted that section of the site is if you try to block all 30,000 at once because you left the "automatically accept new networks" to its default ON.

I'm sure they fixed it some time in the past 3 years, right? Let us know, lol.

In spite of having the option turned off, I keep seeing some (few) ad networks added each week, and "allowed" automatically. The switch needs to be gray, right ?

By the way , I review the list twice a a year , to verify that only a few ad networks (I picked up) are allowed, and everything blocked. This is certainly the best thing I ever did regarding Adsense.

I am curious about the meaning of some ad networks. For example, there are thousands named "TP - " something. The hyphen is sometimes short, long, with or without space around.

I especially love how you can't toggle off all of the 30,000+ networks at once. You have to do it one...by...one...by...one....
