We don't talk a lot about this old adsense format. but for me, Link ads units were unbeatable.

Now, my adsense revenues have a huge volatility. One week can be half of the precedent.

Who else like me misses those ads?

What did you do to substitute them?

Everyone misses them. They seemed to perform ok when content was actually relevant to the ad. However, so many pages would get ads that were very general and 'messy targeted'

Peace first, then ...

The problem with the link ad units, was that the labels of links were too perfect, they were exactly in context, and ultra interesting looking, however, the ads showing on the next page , were very deceptive, sometimes only one ad, and a generic ad (the kind which is the same sentence, just with the keyword change).

However, within the mix of ads showing now within the same slot, I see what looks like link ad units. So may be they are still serving them, when there are really advertisers behind.

Dimiti, are you simply using "display ads" ? I never saw what you're describing...

I still have a lot of clics on my ads, but they are almost all "invalid". That was not the case with link ad units, since user had to clic twice (once on the link ad, then the ad...). This fact would mecanically improve eventually my "quality score" as a publisher.
