Identity verification after 11 years of payouts

I am wondering if anyone here with an old Adsense account and a history of stable payouts was asked to verify their identity around last week? That's what happened to me a week ago. I received an email from Google Pay asking for identity verification although my Adsense account itself never showed any warnings. I submitted my documents and no news for already 7 days. I received the last payout on 21st with no problems.

I wonder if it's a mistake like the time they sent out pins for address verification to already confirmed addresses.

I would be wary of such a request. I think I would take a close look at the message headers/source before sending documents in that case.

No I submitted my passport copy on an Adsense support page and I can check it now and it shows my case is in progress. I am not concerned about it being fake at all.

i must correct the above: I submitted on a Google Pay support page. It is something about my Google Pay profile that triggered this. Honestly, I didn't even know much about Google Pay up till now, I was just receiving my payments and everything was fine. I received a message to accept the new terms and conditions for Latvia, and after a few days I got an email to verify my identity.

The reason it seemed strange to me is because Google Pay is a method to pay for purchases, I had not seen that Google Pay was an option for receiving payments. I haven't looked at the options for years so it may have been added.

Yessss, i thought so too. To be precise, I didn't even think about it ever.

And right after my last post, I opened it again and I think I know what the problem is. For some reason I have two Google Pay profiles, one for Adsense and one for Google Play. I found that it's the second one that needed a confirmation, not the first one. But of course they didn't spell it out clearly for me and just like you I didn't know. The email was general. it's title is 'important information about your google account'. then when you open it says:

You're receiving this email because we haven't been able to verify some of the info on your Google account. If we can't verify it within 10 days, you won't be able to transact with certain products (e.g. Play, Google Ads, AdSense, Workspace, Google Cloud, etc.) using this account.

Please complete this form using the email address where you received this notice. If you are not able to complete the form, your accounts may be temporarily suspended until this is resolved.

bla bla bla

so of course i freaked out and like an idiot submitted my passport copy for the profile that is totally fine!. But they really don't make it clear. I've never been to that page. I've never seen that drop down menu on the top where you can change your payment profiles. I didn't know anything about google pay. I was just receiving my Adsense payments. And ito make things worse, they didn't answer up till now after 7 days.

So I submitted the same copy for the profile in question and now have two cases open with them. We will see how it goes. I really don't care about Google Play though.

Hi JamalSaleh and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

If you have more than one payment profile, are you sure that you have submitted the correct profile? In ubound's case (above) there were two payment profiles and the delay was due to verifying the unquestioned profile.
