Suddenly on 11th of March 2022 My adsense RPM dropped by half instantly & I noticed that ads now rarely appear on mobile devices, What kind of penalty is it guys? site speed or ad placement? I did add some new ads before this happened to me. Same thing on same date happened to my other friend as well!

Hello bnttet, and Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

If you are not seeing any messages about issues either in your AdSense account or by email then it is not likely to be a penalty. It could be poor results on page speed, CWV or CLS or third party cookie settings. There are several discussions here about this type of problem, here is one from last week that might give you some ideas about what to do to fix it: [webmasterworld.com...]
Another one, problems with GA: [webmasterworld.com...]
See this one that covers cookie consent: [webmasterworld.com...]

There are more, but it helps to eliminate the most common causes first.

Thank you for the reply not2easy... idk what's going on It happened to me 15 days after I added some more ads to boost the site's RPM. No alert's nothing just a sudden drop in impressions (Mobile Devices) & the funny thing is this happened to my friend on the same day as well.

So it could be a quick fix. You might want to check out the threads I've linked to see if their answers relate to your issue.

A local change for mobile only could be a carrier problem, if there were a penalty you would know about it in your account. If some setting needs correcting, they do not notify you.

Hello, the same issue happens to my site. Impressions drop significantly (almost 70%!), just wondering if there's any solution for this or anything I can do to fix it? Thanks

Wow, scary looking graph ins3rt,

#1 - Is your ads.txt file in place and correct?
#2 - Could it be partly due to Adsense policy not to show ads on uncrawled pages combined with a current slowdown in indexing new content?

Hello Sgt_Kickaxe,

Thank you for the reply!

"Wow, scary looking graph ins3rt" - what you mean? the decrease of users or Adsense impressions?

I think that the may google update had an impact on my website. Due to a recent decline in users i hired a SEO consultant - who i started worked on 1st of august this year (yellow line in the i placed before). On the 22nd of august he made some think - Cloudflare + new cache plugin + and maybe others... Since then the AdSense impressions had a huge decrease... He reverted the Cloudflare and reverted to the previous cache plugin but the Adsense impressions never get back to the previous levels.

Regarding your questions:

#1 - I didnīt touch in the ads.txt, and form what i see (check image below) it looks correct, donīt it?

[ibb.co...]

#2 - all the pages are crawled i think... so i donīt think that it is that.

Lastly, i would like to ask you a question: it is normal to get the results shown in the image below on Google Pageinsights - for mobile?

[ibb.co...]

Thank you for your help!

Luis

Your ads.txt looks fine for adsense. If you have other forms of advertising it will need updating. By scary I meant only the one graph, the important one really, took a nosedive which provides very few clues.

Re: pagespeed results. I would look into why no data is being reported for mobile FID, INP and TTFB. You want to rule out website issues for mobile since desktop looks fine. Keep in mind that for pages with little or no traffic the pagespeed report data will be aggregated data for a group of pages. Run your top pages through pagespeed to get page specific data and see if they have the same missing information.

The changes you mentioned on Aug 22nd may have been enough to send pages to the "need to be re-evaluated" bin, which could have "reset" your adsense metrics, but the changes weren't left in place long enough for that to complete mid helpful content update.

Keep trying to find technical issues but avoid making dramatic changes to anything but site issues until Nov. You don't want to trigger "this content has changed" type events right now. Improved performance is fine though.

@ins3rt
Your first screen shot seems to indicate something spurious going on. Why is there a sudden increase in page impressions while the number of users is unchanged? What did the SEO change? It looks like the impressions have doubled, is it possible that you are serving the page twice for every request, or that there is some javascript that was added to page that is causing the page to reload? Whatever your SEO reverted it didn't resolve the doubling of page impressions.

Hello NickMSN.

The SEO consultant provided me a few reasons for the Adsense impression sudden drop - one new explanation every two days. As there was no consistency, i stopped working with him as restored a old backup i had from 1st of August. Page impressions went down, Adsense impression are the same (70% drop since 22nd of august) and visitors average is unchanged.

Regarding page impressions he just implemented a related articles widgets on sidebar. I did the same when i restored the backup and it worked - almost double. Answering your question: no, i donīt think i am "serving the page twice for every request".

Hope what i written is not confusing.

Thank you for your help!

Is it implemented with an I-Frame by any chance?

I had to search on Google whatīs an "I-Frame" - not a technical guy on this side. The answer is no, i donīt think it was implemented with an I-Frame.
