Disabling adsense on all but the high earning pages?

Hi everyone,

I have a site with about 400 pages on it

There are 10 pages on the site that:
- get the vast majority of traffic
- make the vast majority of adsense money

The other 390 pages don't get nearly as much traffic or adsense revenue, but are still good and useful to have, etc...

I'm thinking about completely disabling adsense on those 390 pages, so as to focus the quality ads on to the pages that already make money on adsense. As well as to make those less popular pages load quicker and look better (no ads does indeed look neater)... and then if/when any of those lower ranking/traffic pages ends up hitting some kind of page views threshold, only then would I reactivate adsense on it and start to make money off it...

Has anyone tried this before? Is it completely crazy?

Just curious if anyone has any insights on this!

for sure I know that some of my websites have got a max of 20 pages and its CTR RPM and whatever is doing very well.
Whether this address your question, no idea.

@listentobrett ... Welcome to Webmasterworld!

Why? I mean why take to adsense code off the "underperforming" pages? It will not CONCENTRATE traffic for the top pages ... and will do nothing more than IGNORE the FEW clicks one gets on the less popular pages.

What does it cost to have the advertising on all the pages AND GET CONVERSIONS on the "lost" pages?

YMMV

PS: keep it simple ... don't make extra work for yourself!

@tangor - thankyou! nice to join.

Well, as I said, the ads sometimes aren't great and distract from the main experience of the site sometimes. They're a necessary evil. Adsense is also incredibly slow and bloated (If I do a Lighthouse test with vs without adsense the speed score is almost half). And I literally make zero money from all but the few high-earners, so I'm curious about just getting rid of the ads while the page views are below a certain threshold... Just curious if anyone has actually done this.
