Message Too Old, No Replies

Should I change my user-consent banner with the proposed by Google?

Google suggests to "manage the user consent", but I use a homemade alert

Hi,

Google team is gently insisting me (through links in the monthly reports, alerts in the Google Adsense dashboard) to "manage the user consent". The suggested link is [support.google.com...]

Currently, I do not have any policy issue affecting ad serving in my website. In 2016, I created a very simple home-made message/alert (through PHP+JavaScript) to make users accept the cookies, linking to a specific webpage with the Privacy Policy, with a home-made wording claiming that I do not collect any personal information in the website (it's true), and that the ads are served by Google, linking to the Google's ad privacy webpage (https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads). So far, it seems that Google has not opposed to this.

My website is *not* WordPress-made, and most of my users comes from the United States, mainly California. And, obviously, I receive some visits from the EU.

However, I've seen in this forum (https://www.webmasterworld.com/google_adsense/5038555.htm) that some people received policy warnings dealing with wording of the alerts, and I'm concerned about the possibility that Google warns me too.

My questions:
- Should I stop my home-made cookies alert system, and substitute it with the proposed by Google (within the 'Privacy & messaging' section of Adsense)?
- Is this system proposed by Google an alternative to the free consent management platform of 'Quantcast Choice'? Should I use the solution by Quantcast?
- Should I implement the GDPR messaging (for the European Union), as well as the CCPA (California) and the LGPD (Brazil)?
- Is my homemade alert preventing customized ads from displaying? If I allow visitors to select personalized ads, will my earnings increase?

Thank you very much.

I would try the AdSense cookie consent banner, it handles everything you need.

Hi @NickMNS, thank you very much for your nice answer.

I've removed the home-made cookies consent system, and just activated the Google's system to show GDPR and CCPA messages. I see that they are starting to display.

I use Google's consent notice for all of my adsense websites.
On the other hand, on one website without adsense, I use free Quantcast consent notice and I really like the possibility of customization, and especially the percentage of consent for visitors.

This percentage insight, which is very interesting part of Quantcast consent, still does not have Google Adsense consent notice.

I used to use quantcast as well together with ad inserter. google analytics would also be inserted after consent was given.

I assume google codes and analytics now run regardless of consent?

Hi Not2Easy so I followed the help guide above and I enabled both GDPR and COPPA. However I don't see them activated on my website. Do I have to enable autoads on Adsense for this stuff to work on my site?

I have no idea what your obligations with AdSense are, sorry. That is information available to you in your AdSense account. I can only offer general suggestions because only you know where your traffic is from. AdSense offers complete details on their support site. Sorry, but I can't guess accurately whether you are up to date with your ad code and cookie consent based on your visitors' origins.

Yes so the Adsense gdpr/ccpa notice works. However it doesn't show up on Safari iphone browser. Anyone confirm this? It works on Chrome iphone app.

Hi Breathofair33 and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

It has been discussed in several threads, this is a good one with links to other discussions on that question: [webmasterworld.com...]

Overall it seems to help though it may take a day or so after the change, it needs to be crawled to make a difference.
