"July, let's see what the summer brings"
"Starting off the second half of the year, hopefully earnings will pick-up"
"Summer's here, will Adsense provide enough to pay for the beer"

June was the worst month of the year so far, mostly as a result of a drop in traffic. Clawback ~1%. July is starting off slow too.

2.63% for me, i have had 26% in the past. Not these days luckily.

You can disable personalized ads, and run only contextual ads.

This is true, you can. But the question isn't can you it is should you? The answer is No!

Restricting the types of ads for whatever reason, reduces demand. In turn, reducing demand will reduce price. Typically personalized ads account for a large share of the ads shown, often the largest share (in my case >80%). Blocking 80% of your demand will have a devastating effect on your revenue.

Nonsense, of course. It doesn't matter where the publisher is located. It does matter where your visitors are coming from.

I'm in Europe, and compared to last year June's earnings and RPM are up by 14%. Clawback 2.5%.

There are a few things wrong with your statement. First, my earnings are up because last year my websites and niche took a major hit because of COVID. It was my worst year in 9 years. However, it recovered around September of last year.

Secondly, it’s not because I am a US publisher, but more so because I target primarily US Americans. Clearly, if you target certain countries like the USA your Adsense income is going to be higher than if you target let’s say, India. Maybe that’s what you mean.

I also target the UK, but my traffic from there is considerably lower than USA traffic.

Last month was the best one EVER! (a raise of 50% compared to normal), but this month until now is down by 35% than the normal.

I did not change anything in the website except adding content of course, I think is just summer. (normally july and august are low).

Has your CPC increased over the past few days? July started off slow for me, but has picked up considerably over the past few days.

Yes an increase of 20%, but the problem for me is the CTR is abnormally down from 1st of july. (normally around 1% but now is around 0.3%).
Impressions is decreased by half, but number of clicks is decreased by 75%.

^ seeing the exact same thing. The week before the last couple days was the typical July lull. Yesterday and today picked up considerably (near highs for the year oddly).

Ezoic's Ad Revenue Index seems to track well with how my RPM's are doing -> [adrevenueindex.ezoic.com...]

I can't see them myself but I found them in my reports. They gave it only a tiny amount of impressions which didn't result in a lot of clicks.

Desktop anchor ads are making an impact because I have already seen a little jump in revenue this morning. They have already accounted for a 10% increase in revenue today. I have to say that I really don't like the intrusiveness of desktop anchor ads, but I like the increase in income. They are showing up on every desktop page which is horrible. I will probably turn them off.

New ad improvements for better performance

Thanks, MayankParmar, this was just announced yesterday. The basic changes mean you can continue without any changes to your code BUT you will only benefit from enhanced performance if you remove all your old code from a page when you start to use the new improved performance version. Avoid a mix of the two versions.

From that article:

There's no requirement to replace the existing ad code on your site. However, you're welcome to update your ad code if you want to take advantage of the new optimization features.

Tips: If you do choose to update your ad code, make sure that:

You update all the ad code on your site. For the most optimal results, we recommend you avoid having a mix of old and new ad code on the same page.

I haven't changed any code yet, but my Adsense revenue is skyrocketing today. No change in my traffic. I hate all of the ads that are displaying, but I love the revenue. Decisions, decisions...

Just adding to Dimitri's link, this new code has been around since WebmasterWorld members noticed it in April, 2021.

The link posted by MayankParmar was published on July 19 - they fooled me into thinking something had changed. Maybe they just wanted to remind folks not to use old and new code together?

The desktop anchor ads added about 12%, but I just got rid of them. It was a horrible user experience and I have already started receiving complaints.

Strangly enough, I get only a small number of desktop anchor ads views and only one click yesterday. I don't know why they don't allow more impressions.
