So, I've been a bit lazy with my GDPR compliance and had been waiting for a nudge. This came a few weeks ago from Adsense informing me some of my sites didn't have consent management in place.

OK I thought, easy. I'll just go to Quantcast, set it up for default GDPR and job done. Like millions of other sites I'm just running vanilla Adsense. A week later I receive an email with the message:
Our policy review indicates that while the site(s)/app(s) below have a consent notice in place, its wording fails to meet the requirements of our policy

Right, obviously there is something else I need to do - I'll have a quick look online and see what I need to fix... Days of trawling the internet and nothing....

What is going on? I'm using the most popular consent management tool with the most popular ad provider in the world and they don't work together, and no one else seems to have had the same problem.

Next, I contact Quantcast and Adsense. Quantcast got back to me with a few hints, but nothing simple as you need to check this box, plus the link they sent me read like a white paper...
I just got Adsense's reply which basically said we don't help with your GDPR problems.

Oh, and just to make matters worse there is nowhere I can find to check the current status of my sites with regards to this policy. It isn't in the Policy Centre or GSC, so I just have to wait for the next no-reply email to find out if I'm going to get banned or not.

What about the GDPR consent notice that you can enable in your Adsense account? Not just choosing not to show personalized ads to people in the EU but the actual notice that Google will show to your visitors.

Not sure this exists. I certainly can't find anything as simple as "cut and paste this code"... And everything I read seems to be a rabbit hole which doesn't really help.

I don't get how this can be complicated?! I've been doing this job for 20 years with a solid background in coding - and it has left me scratching my head. I just can't imagine how your average blogger has managed to do this.

Seriously, try googling it and you will be met with a wall of technical detail that will floor most people.

I think @ember may be referring to this:

I think the instructions included in the link above require bespoke code to trigger personalised ads after consent is gained - not really that accessible to many site owners.

My main issue is how difficult this is proving, and that I can't find an out of the box solution for something that thousands of sites must need?! I kind of feel like I'm being gas-lit...

thanks a lot guys to let me know that Adsense finally
added the GDPR consent notice into Adsense account with easy integration.

Pufffg....Ivee already started to panic seeking for solutions. A couple days a go Adsense account has only option for CCPA notice but not GDPR.

Great, great and thanks again.

I have actually now got the AdSense integrated (Funding Choices) GDPR consent running on two of my sites and they are still failing over the wording. Sorry, but WT absolute F?!

Did you get a new email after you posted Google GDPR consent notice or you still did not receive any reaction? I advise you to contact the policy team and ask them what it is about.

Am now in communications with GDPR escalations. No explanation so far, they just said they are reviewing it - however, it hasn't been suspended.

I have another problem with a more profitable site that has been suspended. I wasn't running the consent popup on pages with no ads (a byproduct of the consent popup being triggered by the ad code). Anyway, the reviewer only looked at the home page, decided it wasn't compliant and I'm now losing a couple of $100 a day whilst they look into it...

Glad to hear you're sorted.

Unfortunately, this is the kind of thing we have with automated systems that just don't work properly. Sadly, often, the review process is impossible.

Sorry but this is new to me.

I mean, I am also using adsense on my EU language websites, and I received NOTHING?! I know what is GDPR, but why I never saw any notice? Where those notices will show? Adsense policy center? Why mine is empty?!
