Hello,

Excepting if this is a glitch, I think that now, everybody needs to submit tax information.

I am European, and I had to do this, in the old times, until Adsense linked my account to their Irish office.

So I wonder if , Adsense is going to be taken back to the USA ...

By the way, I see the notice tonight too ... and ... I am unsure on how to fill their fields; some fields and help bubbles are confusing...

If you don't know how to fill in the tax fields, ask a local tax advisor or accountant. Every situation is different and it is therefore impossible here to give advice.

I filled the form and received an automated message that the form was approved. I am concerned though.

@adsenseuser They never withheld any taxes from me, but now the form said they could, depending on the type of treaty they have with my country. I wonder what has changed.

Hello,

If you don't know how to fill in the tax fields, ask a local tax advisor or accountant.

The problem is different, ... i am in use of filling W-8BEN-E forms since the mid 90s, but this time, you don't fill the form directly, you answer questions , and Adsense is supposedly filling it for you ... the problem is , they certainly used Google Translate, for their fields and help bubbles. So it comes to things which do not make sense. Exemple, for the type of entity , there is one which says "entry made of persons" (this is how it sounds once translated into my language).

Now, the more I look at it, and the more it seems that it concerns only Youtubers ...

@ubound - it's certainly the first time I've ever seen it in 6-7 years of using Adsense

There was a choice of Google products somewhere closer to the end, I recall, and Google Adsense was one of the choices. There was something with the word "Youtube" in it too, but I don't remember how it was phrased. It was another choice.

The options are:

Services (AdSense)
Motion Picture and TV (YouTube, Google Play)
Other copyright (YouTube, Google Play)

Below is a really good guide and explanation I just found:

I had to fill similar forms before with some other US companies and it always was only a formality. I am not sure how Google worked up till now that we didn't have to fill it, but our region is paid by Google Ireland, maybe that's why, as one of the posters mentioned above.

Their explanation as to why we have to fill this form says:

The Internal Revenue Service ("IRS") requires Google to refresh its non-US partners and vendors tax forms at the earlier of

(1) every 3 years or
(2) If there has been a change in circumstances that would impact the validity of the form.
Google is updating its payees to confirm compliance with these IRS rules.

So hopefully, still just a formality.

I have submitted that form but it shows on the payment page 30% for all 3 activities.
I was expecting 10-15%.
I am from Romania, will they really cut 30% of my profit from adsense and youtube for us visitors?

@Coldfaun, tax calculations differ per situation. It is dependent if your financial relation is with Google in Ireland or Google US, if you have a physical presence in the US or have financial ties other than AdSense, if you signed up to AdSense as a private person or a company etc. With 30% deduction I would certainly advice you to contact a local tax consultant to assess your situation.
