Anyone using Google custom search engine?

What are your results? Better or worse than banners?

Just curious what your experiences have been with trying to implement Google custom search engine fields on your site, if you've modified them at all with code, what your results are, etc. I'm getting tired of how ugly so many adsense ads are, and am thinking of switching over to explicitly using only the search engine. Simply wonder what your adventures implementing it have been like. Thanks.

I used them for a years on a few sites. They make some money but nowhere near what traditional ad blocks do. With each passing year, they're paying less and less.

Good for some ... but all are "third party", so will have some speed drag on your site. Keep that in consideration.

I started with it from the very beginning. It gave some money in the initial years, but with the mobile boom, users stopped using it (no room to place a visible search box) and also incomes dropped.

I removed it in 2020.

I use Google's custom search on all of my websites. The revenue generated is a pittance. Inconsequential and worse than banner ads.

I have used FreeFind search for years. I like it because it indexes ALL my pages, not just half of them as Google did for years.
