It's June 2020. How is your AdSense trending in the new normal?

Hello,

As I said some times ago, since a few weeks, I noticed earnings from "vignettes" and "anchors" ads ... on desktops ! I thought these ads were only showing on mobile devices.

Personally, I never saw this kind of ads, on desktop. But if Adsense is indeed serving them, I would like to refine the design of my sites. For example, if there are anchors ads at the top, I don't need to show an horizontal ad banner there.

So , I don't know if this is experimental, or, if this is a glitch in the stats, ...

However, if this is accurate, these ads are incredibly well targeted. Like for example, on desktop, for yesterday, 10.000 pages views, 10 anchors ads "only", but 6 clicks on them.

I could remove all ads from the page, and live on such anchor ads :)

@JorgeV
Maybe it's because some PC (laptops) are just like smartphones!

Very low CPC in June.. just +0.2 euro comparing to May. May was also low because of COVID. My trend do not follow

Anyone with the same problem?

Doubling - From 37 to 74 since April 3? Yeah, right. What, pray tell, doubled? My dismay? My hopelessness?
"You say doubled, others might say halved." C'mon. What kind of stat is this?
I perceive that it is an ezoic sales pitch.

(Don't forget to remove the second "s", for the URL to work.)

I am seeing increases in RPM month over month, could it be related to the Covid 19 ad credit that they are offering advertisers?

US cpm is high
Non-US cpm is minimum!

This weekend is brutal. The CPM is down the drain.

Last post of me was about the huge clawback of about 17 percent. Never seen such bullsh**. Never had such figures in 8 years of using Adsense and last month where 2.1 million pageviews, so about 17 percent was false?

I just figured out that the amount in money is about the same as the previous months but I reduced Adsense a lot and obviously they are not using a percentage as clawback but an amount of money as clawback. So when reducing impressions for Adsense they will punish you.

Even more motivated to use affiliates, direct advertisers and other networks than Adsense.

I'm not seeing an improvement. Too much uncertainty in the US (virus wave 1, virus wave 2 potential bankruptcies, foreclosures, the election, etc). I'm not expecting a recovery in Adsense until next year. So it's on my back burner for revenue now.

Heh. I just made the exact same amount two months in a row. To the penny. The previous payment lost 33% to “invalid clicks” and the most recent payment lost 50% to “invalid clicks”. Of course, this doesn’t include all the revenue I lost on a day to day basis to “invalid clicks”.

Wow 50% reduction, that's heavy. I think the worst I ever got was 10%.

4% for me this month.

Google do not show my webistes in its search results
So I am defunding Google
And it looks like the sooner webmasters can find other sources for adverts so as to avoid these constant drops in ads the better.
Google play with you, so Defund them!
Bing show my site with no work or SEO required.
Its all a big con.

I love how my earnings remain flat when there's a sharp increase in traffic, impressions, clicks.

It seems like the quality of ads showing on my websites is getting better. Goldman Sach, Samsung, Best Buy, Amazon, Lending Tree, etc. are all advertising on my websites now. However, it has not made a difference as far as earnings.

I noticed exactly the same thing. After a couple of weeks of really awful ads; in the last days, things improved substantially with premium-companies sending ads to all my websites.
Though, earnings have not improved at all. Maybe it's just a coincidence, I don't have collected enough data to draws conclusions, so far; yet, it's possible that Adsense is giving away gazillion of ad spots to premium-clients for peanuts...

@RunFun Yes, it is robbery. My EOM clawback has remained consistent at about 30% for months on end. They take it because they can get by with it. What better way to increase Google's profits. I know for a fact that there is no click fraud going on. If I were in the wrong, my account would have been deleted already. The fact is that I am just a lamb being led to the slaughter every month.

@azlinda is correct. There's no way to dispute clawback. 30% is very high and if she was engaging in click fraud, Google would have pulled her account. They're getting less dollars from advertisers so they have to take it from us.

Morning shocker for me. Balance got updated with $50. There was no mention of "Earnings - AdSense for Content" and "Invalid Traffic - AdSense for Content". Instead, I have just "Other Adjustments - AdSense for Content"

Edit: it has been fixed.

A little less than 50% clawback for me this month. :p So a little better than last month. :D

To note, I've had over 6,000,000 ad impressions over the passed 28 days...

Before these last few months, my "invalid traffic" was a tiny percentage and I never even thought about it. Tiny. Nothing anywhere even remotely close to the 33% I lost in April. I've been with Adsense since the beginning...

Something very strange is going on with the rise in recent clawbacks. I've been with Adsense for over 15 years, and my clawbacks have consistently been under 5%. April was 25%, May was 41%, for "Invalid Traffic - AdSense for Content". After May's clawback, I contacted Adsense support, and ended up adding additional space around my ads, and the word "Advertisements" above them. Didn't help; June's clawback was 56%.

Jonathan, did adsense support recommend you to add space around your ads?

Jonathan

They sent me some generic recommendations, including one against placing ads next to clickable content, which of course I've already known about. So I increased spacing anyway, and also added the "Advertisements" label. This is the most spacing and labeling my ads have ever had. They did identify two ad units that they said had the highest amount of invalid click activity, but even the total revenue for those ad units did not come anywhere near to the amount of the deductions.

I'm just not seeing how I can continue using Adsense. My revenue isn't going up, my placements aren't changing, my spacing and labeling increased, but my clawbacks won't stop going up.

@Jonathan My ads are quite far apart from any other clickable content. I never bothered to add "advertising" to my ads because they are easily recognizable as ads and not part of the regular content.

"but my clawbacks won't stop going up." Google needs the money more than we do. (sarc)
