I thought that they had fixed this.
NO, THEY HAVE NOT!

No matter what I do, they refuse to stay within the defined ad container. WHY?
They are SUCH HOGS for width, that it completely ruins the user experience.
ANYONE, using an iPhone, is going to be piffed off. Navigation is ruined.

I am sick of this.
I am switching them all out to 300x250, to limit their BLIND GREED, which screws up everything.
I'm sorry, but there is no other way to put it --->
They are DUMBER THAN DIRT about this.

I am wondering why I even bother with them anyway. The money has dried up.

Are YOU still seeing this issue? Is there a workaround THAT WORKS?
Or, should I just call it a day.
Thank you for any insight. And/ or commiseration.

P.S.
And another thing.
Have you noticed that the "Responsive" ads are more targeted that the standard-size ads?
Is this part for a conspiracy to FORCE you to use the danged things? Maybe? Huh?
See? Maybe they are driving me nuts.

@Sally ... please, don't hold back. Tell us what you REALLY think!

The apparent goal is to standardize (their side) what is offered for their benefit (not yours). If you play you get what you get. After all, you aren't paying CASH for a product, you are providing space on the off chance you get something in return.

I have yet to see a g contract with promises of "you get this for your that".

On the other hand, they remain the best of the bunch for inserting code in your pages for the off chance you might be rewarded on a monthly basis, IF YOU CAN REACH their "we pay after x hits" thresholds.

Seriously, g remains the top and if you play that's where you want to be. But it will always be on their terms.

As for the bleed on size, one can only join the chorus singing the same song on the g forums. Perhaps the choir will eventually be heard.

One can hope!

On my sites, I haven't seen that AdSense responsive ads go over the boundaries of encapsulating divs. Which technique do you use to set the size of the ad containers? I use CSS styles hardcoded in the <head> section of the HTML which makes the div dimensions known before the AdSense code is loaded. Maybe your CSS styles are loaded only after the first AdSense scripts?

100% agreed with responsive ads being absolutely garbage for performance & user experience.

The worst ones are the html 5 ads that show some weird background as if they are supposed to load a video ad under them, but wait they do, just make sure you're looking at the ad for 10 seconds for it all to load up and become visible to you. Otherwise it just looks like us publishers are making huge paddings below our ads in order to trick our users into thinking theres no more content below.

Auto ads, responsive ads, the future!

It would be a great time for that half a brain meme to share here in this post, because that's who Google Adsense is catering to now.

Sally,
What browser and version are you using on the iPhone?
If the browser is an old one then that may be the problem. But if it's up to date then we can check that off the troubleshooting list.

Is this experience consistent across the web or just on the one site?
If this is only happening on the one site then maybe there's a coding issue or a JS conflict that is responsible for the error and not an issue with responsive ads.

I have seen responsive ads blow up one of my mobile layouts. But in my experience it was a problem with the layout.

A little follow up.
I apologize for starting this thread. It is pure BS, and misses the point.
I feel like I was barking at the moon, or
complaining of the color of the paint on a demolished building.
AdSense is DEAD. PERIOD.
From $180K in 2013, I have struggled to make $3/ day for the last 5 years.
I jumped through all the hoops -
HTTPS, all pages responsive, EAT, rigid rule compliance - the whole kebab.

To all of my GREAT LinkedIn SEO connections from WebmasterWorld, you know who I am.
It’s all over now. I'm done.
From 2005 to 2015, G paid me close to $680,000 - I made them $1,000,000.
Much more, if you include the income of the scrapers of my content.

Google started out as a search engine. They are now an advertising behemoth,
which will do anything conceivable to increase short-term profits,
including destroying the program that was instrumental in getting them to the top.

Last year, Innovation wisely resigned from the company - Brin and Page.
They saw what was coming, and decided to let the new guy take all the heat,
for what was coming down the pike, resulting from the
monopolistic, predatory actions of the greed-driven corporate bean counters.

And then, this morning, I get the email.
“Your ad settings will be optimized automatically”.
Like BLOATED ad sizes? NO, THEY WILL NOT. Been there, done that.
ANY and ALL “improvements” are for Google’s benefit, NOT the publisher’s.
They wanted me to fill out the survey. I did. After I let them know EXACTLY
how I felt, there is NO WAY they will allow me to continue to be a "partner".
Partner, my @ss. Chump is the word. Idiot is another.
Providing free real estate for low-paying, un-targeted, embarrassingly poor ads.

I turn 76 this month. I’ve seen all the G bungling I want to see.
Their SERPs are now filled with garbage. Stuff that is JUST PLAIN WRONG.
Just drop the word intelligence from “artificial intelligence”.

AdSense is NEVER coming back. I was stupid to hang on for so long.
Maybe your situation is different. Maybe you crave fractions of a farthing.
Maybe you switched over to the “slide-show” niche.
Maybe you avoided the knife-twist de-ranking factor in the algo. I did not.
Watch what you say, or you will get the invisible hook,
and spend all your time wondering WTH happened. G will never tell you.

It is time for me to stop chasing the dragon, and just have fun being poor,
and learn to live solely on SSI payments. Looking for a place to live.
The rents in the Santa Cruz area are insane. Stuck in California.
Anyone know a single, lonely, well-to-do, elderly lady in the area?
I give good humor. … guess not.

Hope your luck was better than mine.
Cheers to All and Good-bye.

Say goodbye to adsense, but keep in mind there are other ways to make a living on the web ... just not cut and paste solutions.

Wishing all the best, whatever you decide to do!

Meanwhile, there is a life after adsense. Just have to go live it.
