AdSense accounts are generally "one to a customer" so you can log in to your old account and update any changes there. One AdSense change over the past few years is that every site requires approval before you add in the AdSense code and AdSense is expecting to find your ads.txt file when their media-bot visits.

It seems you are planning adequately for re-starting AdSense on your new site. You have time to find the information you need and other people who have recently added another site should hve additional suggestions on what to look for. With the current worldwide health situation, AdSense isn't near the cash source it was once but sites still can earn going forward. Good luck!

As not2easy said above every new site added needs approval so there is no difference between using the old vs creating new from that perspective. But, I don't see the point of creating a new account if one already exists, one less step.

Also, as said by not2easy, AdSense requires a high volume of traffic in order to generate any reasonable amount of revenue, that is in the best of times, obviously in the current state it is even more so the case. You may want to focus on growing and knowing your audience before selecting the means on monetizing it.

I am not looking for quick money as of now as I already have a full time job. The plan is to start a blog and earn in the long run. I am well aware of the current health situation and have no intent of shifting my focus from health and safety to money.

All i wish to know is when to add a website to the existing Adsense account. Two to three years back I had read somewhere that websites from the Asian subcontinent need to be at least an year old before they apply for adsense. However, my own websites, which were less than 6 months old back then, were approved. Does a similar criteria still exist or is it solely at the discretion of Google regardless of the age/daily traffic?

And to all the experts here, do you really believe a new blog with an decently experienced author can earn well in comparison to a Youtuber with little to no experience? When i used to write articles for a few websites back then, the scenario was entirely different from what it is now. Everyone is moving to Youtube and I do not find a reason to not. But this question has been lingering in my mind as to which of these would be beneficial in the long run.

To me, writing an article is more satisfying than making a video and I believe there is still a good number of people who actually prefer reading than watching.

How soon? When you have enough content and traffic to make sense to try. Traffic comes first, in order to gain approval for ads.

No one is earning "well" with AdSense these days, and that is not something that started this year. It has been a downhill slide. With good traffic it can earn enough to be worthwhile, but nowhere near what it was 10 years ago.

As for videos, YouTube requires followers/subscribers and a minimum number of views before you can place ads. That is new in the past few years.

Hmm. I was expecting the same but did not know that Adsense earnings are falling gradually. Ups and downs are always there but if it is decreasing at a gradual rate, it is alarming.

Do you think it will improve over the coming years or is Youtube (only to draw comparison) the future? I would still go ahead with a website but since you have mentioned it already I am just concerned. I still remember when people used to rely upon Adsense earnings and quit proper jobs for it.

Where do you see Adsense in five years from now?
