Hello,

Since the option is available, I disabled personalized ads for EEA visitors, to conform to the GDPR. However, today, I checked the Adsense's stats deeper, and I see Adsense is still serving personalized ads to visitors from the European Economic Area ! I narrowed the search by target type and country.

I set the option to do NOT serve personalized ads, the option is still showing as it. And at the bottom of the page, Adsense claims personalized ads will not be served to EEA visitors.

Did I miss something?

Switching personalized ads off will only prevent fresh visitors to receive personalized ads. But those who have already cookies of a specific advertiser in their browser will continue to see personalized ads.

How to opt out of user based advertising [support.google.com]
(...) you cannot opt out of showing ads to users based on their previous interactions with the advertiser, such as visits to an advertiser's website, known as remarketing.

The labeling of the Adsense's option, is misleading.

From my understanding, the option is about "collecting" information, and not about "using" already collected information. In other words, when you disable the personalized ads for EEA thing, in fact, it means that Adsense will not store the information that someone has visited "your" page, and this visit will not be taken in consideration to profile this someone. But Adsense will continue to show personalized ads based on "other" data they have about this visitor. See? You are not contributing to the "tracking" but you profit from it :)
