It's not a fix-all, but try adjusting Ad Balance or manually reviewing the ads/accounts in the Ad Review Center to try and flush them out. You wont get all of them but you will at least feel better for trying : /

I've given up. I still have the ad-balance adjusted, but I stopped reviewing ads. I took up too much time and in the end was futile. Nobody seems to care either way.

This month has been my best January ever, I even earned more than last month. But the gain is entirely due to an increase in traffic. RPM was down significantly from December but it is January and thus expected. Let's see if the traffic sticks around long enough to get to a decent RPM month.

2019 earning down 55 % against 2018
January not better.
This is mainly due to SEO as my CTR and CPC remain quite high for my specific niche.

Worst earning month since mid-2018. A lot of it has to do with traffic, but ad quality's also been kind of meh over here, lately. And now we're going into the off-season, so things'll really get interesting. Heheheh... ... ...

Well, here's hoping things turn around as the year progresses.

Fact is that Adsense is still surprising with very volatile revenues.
This morning (Sunday in Europe) I made already more than in a normal weekday.
I ve tried to find out why certain pages are performing better than others despite sharing the same niche sector, cannot find out.
The only way is to follow your intuition and receive revenues.

I identified a list of around 500 IPs that are sure part of same group, I think they do click bombing and I think they are the cause of my crappy earnings lately.
I would be very curious if others can find the same IP in their logs, if anyone is interested, please send me a private message so I send you the IP list.

I'm seeing those crappy ads as well, all the time. The numbers from January were depressing. February so far equally horrible.

@adriantnt - boots are loose on the internet and spidering is a cancer.
I block a lot of IP ranges for boots in the firewall.

January was saved for my by the last week and was not a total disaster, only a small disaster.

Yesterday was the US Super-bowl, so everything stops!

I blocked all chinese IP ranges
I didn't saw any changes in revenue, but a giant drop in my webstats

Most of bots are with IP from US datacenters.

Worst day of the year so far by the looks of it.

Coronavirus, Brexit, Superbowl. Blugh.

@adrianTNT Are you blocking them one by one? As far as I can tell most of them only visit once and click ads multiple times (between 3 to 9). I can't find any actionable patterns, most of them have good UA (latest version of Chrome) and come from legit networks (one of them was from a BMW factory IP).

For what it's worth, Adsense seems to be doing a good job ignoring them, but clicks stay visible in Analytics, and I wonder if Adsense also ignores valid visitor clicks, if they click more than once in single page.

@levo I am not blocking them one by one, but I found parameters that match all of them accurately, I am afraid if I post details about that, then they will hide better.
Among other details, as Mentat said, most bots are from US data centers, that is 100% what I see here.

Going back on topic ... AdSense is NOT doing a good job at all, silently ignoring them would be nice, but AdSense is paying me less per all clicks when this happens (besides clear rollback, earnings decreasing from my account).

From what I seen, Google has a policy of not involving aggressively, not blocking, etc, because they know it will be an endless war, like the adblocks tools, Google could create an adblock blocker, then the others would create an adblock blocker blocker and so on :)

Today is my 2nd best day of the year, but down compared to previous years. I don't block individual ads, only certain sensitive categories. My ad load is max and I allow all ad formats. Today, both of my advertising programs, Adsense and Exponential, seem to be doing well. I hope this bodes well for February. I do think Adsense put too many ads on pages when you let them manage ads and all formats are enabled.

Stats seem stuck here, too, just like in Iowa.

The annual pattern on mine is niche and seasonal and i'm coming out of the very low end with a slow uptick.

Earnings primarilly come from search, and not just Google, although I have lost some positioning.

It's too early for me to judge as i'd prefer to look at trends, rather than daily stats.

I'll have to be patient before I can know how it's going, but I have not been just waiting, i've been planning and developing content.

The company that created the app for the Democrats in Iowa - the one that crashed and burned last night - also did work for Google. Go figure.

My numbers are worse than last February... revenue off 41%, and last February was not good at all.

In related news, well, there isn't any.

@KaseyM
Lookd that Adsense forgot to count the last 15 hours clicks
it s back now but withot the 15 hours.

I'm convinced this is all related to experimentation with AI that's gone bad and Google can't put the genie back in the bottle. Four days into February and I've yet to see a single day this month that is even 30% lower than my average day from 2019.

I thought January was bad, but February is shaping up to be worse. Now, being an optimist, I'm trying to rationalize the idea that Google screwed up on the downside, and someday, there will be an opposite swing to the upside. Am I fooling myself? Probably.

Google has become one of those monsters from a B movie that just won't die and won't go away. It's pretty bad.

Looks like today will be close to my best day of the year. We'll see. It's already my second-best day this year for Adsense. Unfortunately, my traffic is down 22% from last year because of SERP hits. Revenue from Adsense is down 31%. However, other sources have made up for this large drop.

RPM fallen today by 40+% over yesterday. And yesterday was significantly lower than normal. CTR down about 38% over yesterday. Page views about what I would expect for a Wednesday at this time of year. Possibly just a glitch of some sort, only a bit more time will tell.

Over the last hour or so stats have returned to "normal". Must have been a glitch in reporting.

Horrible day today, worst in a long time, CPC and RPM been diving all day.

Sissi

Very volatile week
in 4 hours same revenues as one day
Impacted by a mixture of SEO and ‚AI‘.

My feeling is that there are interferences between both.

I really hope that is a stat delay today, as the revenue seems horrible low.

Pretty terrible start to the month - January was bad, although picked up slightly in the last week - but Feb has been diabolical. DFP, Europe.

Google rolled out the Chrome 80 update on the 4th of Feb, but it was bad before that... Going to play with lots of settings!
