Adsense and 'Time to Interactive'

Pages with Adsense have ridiculous 'Time to Interactive' times in Google Page Speed tests and Chrome's Lighthouse tests. I get 8-10s with just one ad, and 7-8s First CPU idle.

It's been like this more than a year, and I wonder if I'm doing something wrong. Does anyone have any performance tips for Adsense?

Hello-

I inject the Adsense code once the page is finished downloading. It makes ads start showing "later" , but, in my opinion, it gives a better user experience. (I use placeholders, to reserve space for ads, so it's not causing reflow of the content).
