Anchor ads position

Hi,

I like the anchor ads on mobiles, I get ride of all other ad slots (on mobile), to just keep this one. By default, Adsense displays these ads on top of he screen. There is an option to choose to position these ads at that bottom. I can't make my mind on which one is better. By better , I mean, something which is a good compromise between performance (earnings) and user experience. Adsense claims that, the top positioning, produces better results. However, it's not because Adsense says it, that it's true :) . I wonder if, the top position isn't resulting in accidental taps, since the banner appears right under the address bar of the browser. Also, when you scroll a page, I think that the attention is brought to the bottom of the screen, where the next part of the page is appearing.

Any "personal" opinion?

The earnings where low on both to or bottom positions so I tested it for about two months and ended it. Best performing sizes for mobile are in my case 300x250 and 336x280. But last months everything with Adsense showed a drop in revenue so I'm not sure if I'll use Adsense much longer.

But I also prefer the bottom of the screen for anchor ads. At the top is intrusive.

My feedback is from a UX point of view, not marketing.

The top position covers the navigation, and needs to be clicked on and collapsed to see the navigation.

The bottom position seemed like a sensible position, but after my own reading experience, any anchor ad still takes up screen space and gets annoying when having to manually close.

I personally ignore any anchor ads or popups�I just automatically look for the closer�and have total blindness to sidebars.

Adsense anchor ad revenue was very sporadic on my site. More minimal revenue days than good, so I eventually turned them off based on my above comments.

Users, these days, catch on quick to what is "fixed" and then ignore it. In most cases (my opinion) in-line ads (sidebar, etc) make more sense... for those who are no actively blocking ads.

YMMV

(NOTE: speaking of historical adsense for me ... I moved on from years ago so might not be the best observer!)
